Context and Environment

The Tour Montparnasse is scheduled to be fully demolished and rebuilt as part of a major renovation project starting in mid-2026.
In this context, the client mandated StreetCo to dismantle a 14 m² BNX P1.9 LED screen previously installed on the 56th floor, in order to reinstall it later in the Warsaw Tower, which belongs to the same owner.

In the meantime, to ensure continuity of the visitor experience prior to the site’s closure, Timescope and Magnicity wanted to maintain the display of their immersive content showcasing the evolution of Paris from the 1400s to the present day.

To achieve this, a 110’’ LCD screen was selected as a temporary solution, covering the existing wall and allowing uninterrupted content playback.

Technical Solution and Equipment

The chosen solution is based on a 110-inch LCD display, capable of delivering high-definition content, perfectly suited for Timescope’s immersive historical videos.

Materials

Key specifications and equipment:

  • 110’’ LCD display
  • High-definition content playback
  • Anti-reflective film, essential due to the strong natural light on the 56th floor and the panoramic views over Paris
  • Integrated Windows operating system
  • 30-meter HDMI cable for flexible system integration
  • XXL TV wall mount, designed to support the screen’s size and weight

Technical and Logistical Challenges

This project involved several major challenges, particularly in terms of logistics and installation.

Transportation was a critical aspect: importing a screen from China housed in a custom-built transport crate measuring 3 meters in length and 1.5 meters in height required meticulous planning, as the risk of damage was significant. A reinforced custom transport case was therefore designed to secure the shipment.

Installing a screen of this size is also a delicate operation, requiring a team of three to four technicians and precise handling procedures to ensure both safety and accuracy.

Finally, choosing a single-piece LCD screen instead of a large modular LED wall offers a strategic advantage: it allows for a very fast and straightforward dismantling process just before the demolition of the Tour Montparnasse, without complex technical operations.

Impact and Value for the Site

This 110’’ LCD screen plays a crucial role in maintaining the visitor experience on site.
It enables Timescope and Magnicity to continue engaging visitors through immersive video content, preventing any drop in attendance ahead of the tower’s closure.

Thanks to its impressive size, the screen preserves a strong immersive effect, fully surrounding visitors with visuals illustrating the evolution of Paris over the centuries, even in the temporary absence of the original LED installation.

A strategic, efficient, and impactful transitional solution, fully aligned with the cultural and tourism objectives of the site.
